Barista/FOH

We are looking for a Barista/FOH to cover at a minimum Tuesdays and Thursdays (we are currently open Mo-Fri), and possibly up to 5 days from 8am to 1:30pm. As we continue to grow we anticipate needing 2 full time FOHs if a full time position is of interest. 

In this role, you'll craft great coffee drinks and take customer orders at the POS with a friendly attitude. You will sometimes need to juggle competing priorities during rush and keep cool. We expect you to handle transactions efficiently, and ensure our customers leave satisfied and eager to return. If you can speak French that's a definite plus as many customers love to try their French on us:)

We are a small team so you have to be willing to pitch in as needed, whether to run food to dine-in customers or help clear the backlog of dirty dishes during rush hour.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve high-quality coffee beverages with precision and care. Our current barista and Elissa (the owner) will train you on our signature and seasonal drinks.
• Operate POS system (Square) to process orders quickly and accurately.
• Manage cash handling procedures, including cash register operations and basic math calculations for transactions.
• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting guests warmly, answering questions, and addressing concerns promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards in coffee preparation area and dining spaces.
• Assist with food handling, serving, and food safety protocols to ensure a hygienic environment.
• Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure smooth service flow and customer satisfaction.
• During slower shifts assist in replenishing supplies of cold drinks, chips, keep FOH tables clean, and wash dishes as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous barista experience in a café or food industry setting is extremely helpful.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with a variety of guests.
• Ability to manage time efficiently during peak hours while maintaining both attention to detail and a cheerful attitude.
• Knowledge of food handling regulations and safety standards is a plus. Food Handler's permit required.
